In the spring of 2003 the Town Board appointed a committee to do a "Corridor Study" of State Route 364, which involved both a "Traffic Study" and an "Access Management Plan."
The committee worked with SRF Associates to establish a "Plan of Implementation" to be incorporated into the Town Comprehensive Plan as well as the Town Zoning Plan.
In the course of this process it was decided to incorporate the work to encompass the entire Town of Gorham.
The intent of this plan is to provide and manage access to properties while preserving the operating efficiency of the roadway system, to improve the safety of motorists and non-motorists, and to reduce traffic congestion and delay associated with poor access location and design.
This will apply to all new development and give the Planning Board guidelines for projects under their review and approval process.
Anyone wishing to comment on this plan will have until December 1st, 2005 to comment to the Supervisor by letter, visit, or phone call.
Once the review period is over a public hearing will be scheduled, soon after the 1st of the year.
